Stupid HP and their "let's put all the vents on the bottom." Overheating issue seems to be resolved via air compressor. Fresh install of Windows 7-64, latest updates, Office, and a few other things installed. I think it's good to go now. Will return to my aunt sometime soon.

oh god these laptops are such overheating pieces of shit. My grandma bought one with an Athlon II X2 and NVidia graphics, and it had to be reflowed at least once because of shitty solder and awful thermal paste. Also the viewing angles on the screen are atrocious (then again my thinkpad spoils me) and the built quality is nothing short of "ew".
But, yeah. Shiny.

Yep, same exact one. X2 and NVIDIA gfx.

Decent power, but man that was one of the lowest points in HP build quality and reliability. As predicted the battery is down to 30 seconds of charge, just like every Acer my family owns. Whooo.

The battery on this sucks. My nearly 10 year old T42 has longer battery life.

Seriously, good job. If I ever have a technological issue I will find you, and I will ask you.

My 19 year old Toshiba still gets 5 hours of battery life (400CDT)

Yup. Toshiba Sat. Pro 400CDT, running Windows 95 from a 5GB TravelStar, with a 100mhz Pentium and 40MB of proprietary RAM. About 1.2 inches thick, heavy as hell, but works flawlessly despite tumbling from a moving bus (previous owner). Not as indestructible or long-running as my 1983 TRS-80 Model 100. 10 hours on four AA batteries? Yes plz.

I remember these, dv600, tx200, etc overheating HP. I took a friend's tx2000 to the guy who repairs my computers, he saw me coming in and before I could speak he saw the computer and said "Nooo".
Keep it fresh, or it will die at some point.

I remember working on one of these in 2009... At the time I was like "NVIDIA graphics! Cool!" nah it was a hunk of lap burning shit.

These computers were the reason that the terminology changed from laptop to notebook

Nah, Vintage Computers aren't worth what you'd think. I have a pair of the Model 100s that I got for about $40 each from eBay, as well as an IBM PS/1 and an IBM PS/2 30 both in near-mint condition, though the PS/1 is a model that is floppy-only, so no hard drive.
I also have a Canon Notejet 486, which is a laptop that has a black and white printer built into it underneath the keyboard. I don't have nozzles for the printer itself, but it's a nifty little machine.

I used to collect old computers. I keep some of the more rare/favorite ones around. I also have a custom 486 I built for vintage gaming, and a notebook made by DEC that has a full-sized trackball built into it, and is only an inch thick.
